Oneonta has always been home to Dean Erbe!

Dean has lived a remarkable life filled with unforgettable experiences, quiet humor, and incredible stories. In our latest video, he shares a few memories that are sure to make you smile.

Dean's YMCA journey began when he was just 8 years old, swimming on the YMCA swim team when the Y was located on Broad Street. His family's connection goes continues with stories like how his grandfather attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ford Avenue YMCA.

As a child, Dean became a YMCA bowling champion at age 12, spent summers at YMCA day camp, and later returned as a camp counselor, helping create lasting memories for the next generation.

Life took Dean on many adventures. After serving in the Air Force, working a variety of jobs, and pursuing baseball and golf, he eventually found his way back to the YMCA through FoxCare Fitness. Today, he's once again doing what he loves and serving the Y community.

If you've come to the Y Specialty Fitness on  Saturday mornings, you know his enthusiasm, encouragement, and sense of humor make every day something special. If you haven't met him yet, you're in for a treat.

Dean's story is a reminder that the YMCA is more than a building: it's a place where friendships begin, confidence grows, and memories last a lifetime.

Watch Dean's video, get to know one of our own, and see why there's truly NO PLACE LIKE THIS PLACE.

And if you'd like to help create more stories like Dean's for children, families, and neighbors in our community, please consider making a donation. Your generosity ensures that the YMCA remains a place where lives are changed, connections are made, and memories are created for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of our YMCA family. We couldn't do it without you.
