New York Swims Grant

Thanks to funding provided through Governor Kathy Hochul's NY SWIMS Initiative and the New York State Department of Health, this fall the Oneonta Family YMCA will be offering free swim lessons to help more children gain lifesaving water safety and swimming skills.
This initiative is designed to expand access to swim lessons for children who may otherwise face barriers to participation. Program availability and eligibility vary and are determined locally based on community needs and available capacity.
"Every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to be safe and confident in the water," said Frank Russo, CEO of the Oneonta Family YMCA. "We're grateful to Governor Hochul and the New York State Department of Health for making this funding available so we can remove financial barriers and provide more local families with access to these lifesaving skills. We look forward to welcoming new swimmers this fall and helping build a safer, healthier community.
The Oneonta Family YMCA will be releasing more information in September as we prepare for our Fall swim session.
