Code Of Conduct:
Oneonta Family YMCA/Y Specialty Fitness
Purpose
The Oneonta Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members, guests, staff, and program participants. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected of all individuals while in YMCA facilities or participating in YMCA programs.
All individuals are expected to act in a mature, respectful, and responsible manner that supports the safety, dignity, and well-being of others.
Standards of Conduct
The following behaviors are prohibited within YMCA facilities, on YMCA property, or during YMCA programs. This list is not exhaustive.
General Behavior
- Use of abusive, threatening, harassing, or intimidating language, gestures, or conduct
- Any behavior that is offensive, inappropriate, or disruptive to others
- Loitering in or around YMCA facilities
Personal Conduct
- Unwarranted or inappropriate physical contact of any kind
- Demonstration of sexual activity or engagement in sexual conduct
- Any conduct that may frighten, harm, or endanger others
Safety and Security
- Theft, vandalism, or destruction of YMCA or personal property
- Possession or use of illegal drugs, alcohol, or intoxicating substances on YMCA property
- Possession of firearms, weapons, or hazardous materials on YMCA premises
- Smoking or vaping anywhere on YMCA property
- Use of cameras, video recorders, or other recording devices without prior written authorization from YMCA leadership
Facility Use
- Clothing or accessories with offensive language or imagery are prohibited
- Consumption of food in fitness or pool areas
- No glass water bottles are permitted on premises
Youth Supervision
- Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult while in YMCA facilities, including the pool areas
Member Safety and Responsibility
- Members and guests are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal safety and comfort
- Any individual who feels unsafe or uncomfortable should immediately report concerns to YMCA staff
Sex Offender Policy and Background Screening
The Oneonta Family YMCA maintains a strict commitment to safeguarding children and families:
- Individuals listed as registered sex offenders are prohibited from membership, participation, or access to YMCA facilities and programs
- Membership will be immediately terminated upon discovery or conviction of a qualifying offense
- The YMCA reserves the right to conduct background checks and routine screenings in accordance with applicable laws
The YMCA may also deny or revoke membership for individuals who:
- Have been accused, charged, or convicted of violent offenses
- Have a history of weapon-related offenses
- Are involved in the sale, possession, or use of illegal or dangerous drugs
- Are under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on YMCA property
Enforcement
All reported incidents will be reviewed by YMCA leadership. Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Suspension of facility access
- Termination of membership
All enforcement decisions are made at the discretion of YMCA executive leadership.
Liability
The Oneonta Family YMCA is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
Commitment to Community
The YMCA is dedicated to fostering a respectful and supportive environment for all. Adherence to this Code of Conduct ensures a safe and positive experience for everyone.
Membership Agreement:
THIS RELEASE FORM MUST BE SIGNED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS OR THEIR GUARDIANS PRIOR TO USING OUR FACILITY
I do hereby assume full responsibility for any and all damages, injuries, or loss that I/we may sustain or incur, if any, while attending or participating in any YMCA exercise program and/or during any visit to the YMCA. I/we hereby waive all claims against the YMCA Facility, its instructors, agents, staff, or partners of said program, individually, or otherwise, for any and all claims for injuries or damages that I/we might sustain.
I understand that there is risk of injury associated with participation in any YMCA Facility program and I/we certify that I/we are in good physical condition and have no disabilities or other ailments that might hamper my/our participation.
I/we certify that all the information on this document is correct and true. I/we understand that memberships are non-transferrable and I/we are responsible for all fees associated with the membership. I/we acknowledge that I/we have read & agree to all the terms in the Code of Conduct. I also understand that outstanding balances may cause a denial of access into the facility and/or programming. Past due accounts 30 days or more will be followed up by an invoice from the YMCA Finance Department, and needs to be brought to good standing immediately.
If I/We terminate My/Our membership I/We understand that a confirmation email OR letter will be sent within 3 business days of receipt of your request. If a refund is applicable it will take up to 10 business days and go to the original form of payment. I/We understand that a $100.00 re-joining fee may be imposed if cancellation is before the contract end date.
I/We understand that my/our photos will be taken when using the YMCA for purposes of identification.
I/We understand that a welcome email will be sent to the email address I/we provided, which will include a clear disclosure of the terms regarding my/our membership. The email will specify the next billing date, the frequency of the membership, the amount I/we are paying (monthly or annually), and provide instructions on how I/we can easily cancel my/our membership.
I/we understand that member rates are subject to an annual increase on or around the beginning of each calendar year. I understand that the YMCA Facility may not provide refunds, and if approved may be subject to transfer and processing fees.
I understand that the YMCA Facility will be closed for most legal holidays, as well as scheduled annual building maintenance and staff trainings.
The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, volunteers, staff, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs I/we understand that the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access immediately.
Non-Member Agreement:
THIS RELEASE FORM MUST BE SIGNED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS OR THEIR GUARDIANS PRIOR TO USING OUR FACILITY
I do hereby assume full responsibility for any and all damages, injuries, or loss that I/we may sustain or incur, if any, while attending or participating in any YMCA exercise program and/or during any visit to the YMCA. I/we hereby waive all claims against the YMCA Facility, its instructors, agents, staff, or partners of said program, individually, or otherwise, for any and all claims for injuries or damages that I/we might sustain.
